INSECT NETTING SCREENS
FOR GARDEN & GREENHOUSE
Whilst not many Australian vegetable growers and flower growers have mesh in their greenhouses, the demand is increasing. Insect screen will be an essential part in the Integrated Pest Management and for pollination in gardens and greenhouses. On the one hand, the insect screen keeps in the biological controllers and on the other hand, pests are kept out. Care for polinators requires extra attention however.
The climate is changing worldwide, and with weather extremes of heat, cold and storms on the rise, there are more pests. Last year, Australia had a warmer than usual summer, which caused more pests to appear, and with that, Netpro received requests particularly from cucumber growers for insect screen. During a series of warm days, insects multiply fast and suddenly you have to fight a plague. As farmers and gardeners, we are always trying to be one step ahead. Insect Screen stops the influx of harmful insects, and encourages conditions in the garden and greenhouse that are more in balance.
CHOICE OF INSECT SCREEN
“The higher the yield per square meter, the higher the interest for insect screens.
A calculation precedes the choice for insect mesh. “The cucumber and tomato growers who suffered a lot from pests last summer, know how much damage they had. They can calculate exactly what the insect screens will yield.”
The insect screen also has impact on the cultivation. The air exchange is a little bit less, creating a different climate. If a grower is already using maximal ventilation, the mesh will result in more CO2 and higher air humidity.”
Other reasons to assume that the demand for insect screens will increase are a result of the stricter regulation for crop protection agents and the increasing demand of the consumer for safely grown products.
Our insect screen is a commercial grade- 50/25 threads psi providing 27% shade factor.
Available in 3.5 and 3.3 metres wide and at $8.80 a metre cut or $495.00 or 473.00 per 100metre roll. Prices current Nov 2019.
