Sun Protection

Crop Sun Protection

Sunlight is essential for the health of any crop; however, excessive sunlight and heat can take a heavy toll, increasing stress on crops/plants/trees and reducing product quality.

Netpro’s Sun Protection Canopies provide a solution to these environmental stressors. Netpro’s Sun Protection Canopies help protect against heat stress for improved water utilization and increased rates of photosynthesis, reducing sunburn and helping to produce a higher quality, marketable product.

Animal Sun Protection

How are you coping with the heat, and more importantly, how are your Livestock coping?

With the introduction of the Netpro’s innovative Shade System your livestock can now be protected from the harsh Australian sun

NetPro’s Innovative Shade System has been developed using a selection of proprietary products specifically for use as stock shade – generally used in intensive situations such as Feedlots. NetPro’s Sun Protection materials have also been used in the aquaculture and vermiculture industries.

The innovative Shade System design uses a network of tensioned wire-rope cables running in opposite directions, creating an overhead grid pattern. This allows “ blocks” of shade to be installed in almost infinitely variable combinations, which can be particularly helpful when feedlot pens are aligned in less than ideal directions relative to the sun's path, or where there are pens of inconsistent size and shape.

Product/Service Innovation/Originality

The Cattle Shade (shade cloth) uses a specially designed knit pattern and monofilament that reduces the opportunity for water to gather at the centre of each shade canopy, yet still delivers the 70% nominal shade protection that is required for the industry.

Industry Benefit

The Cattle shade reduces the risk of internal water damage (pot holes) to pens, which in return reduces the risk of animal injury whilst still offering suitable shade protection (nominal 70%).

The Cattle shade is a cost effective industry friendly solution to Animal shade that is extremely design and maintenance friendly due a reduction in localised water and wind loading; structural posts can be positioned in the fence lines, assisting in pen cleaning etc.

As most of us are aware Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world, with around 374,000 Australians treated for a non-melanoma (non-life threatening) skin cancer and more than 8,800 are diagnosed with a melanoma each year. Over 1400 Australians die from skin cancer each year.

With this in mind Netpro is dedicated to designing manufacturing and installing cost effective shade solutions in a variety of styles and colours using our very own Smartshade shadecloth. Smartshade is essentially designed for use as "people shade" but is very versatile and comes in a range of shade ratings, from 30% up to 95%. All Netpro Shade Solutions are designed by qualified engineers for the creation of a more usable sun-friendly outdoor space.

The Cancer Council Australia recommends you use all of the following sun protection measures:

Protect your face, but don't forget the rest of your body. The most common sites for the deadliest form of skin cancer, melanoma, are the lower legs for women, and the upper back for men.

As major investors in the Australian horticulture industry, Rewards Group Ltd needs to ensure maximized returns on all funds invested, particularly in orchard infrastructure. Accordingly, our choice of contractors is critical to the final success of any project.

Bill Hatton - Rewards Group Ltd.

We currently have 250 acres of net – about 80% of our orchard area. Without the protective canopy, we wouldn’t be able to supply our market requirements. Quality is important to us and we wouldn’t be able to meet the specifications of our customers without net.

Dino Rizzato - I&L Rizzato & Sons t/a Moonlight Orchards

We particularly liked the product offered by NetPro – high quality was our main criteria. The option of wooden posts was also an important feature because of the highly-corrosive conditions in the feedlot environment. We were able to work through the construction plan and the materials options during the quoting process.

Kevin Roberts - Sandalwood Feedlot Pty Ltd

We chose NetPro to construct our protective canopies, as we know NetPro have been around for some time, we know their work and there are plenty of examples of their work around – we like the consistency of standard. In addition, NetPro are recognized by the Finance bodies, and it is much easier to get finance for a structure.

Mark Chapman

I think it has made all the difference to the quality of our product – it has saved us from bird attack and from hail damage." Since 2001, Robert Channon Wines have won 23 trophies, 17 gold medals, 26 silver and 55 bronze medals.

Mr Robert Channon - Robert Channon Wines

We live in North Queensland and have a nine metre pool. We needed to replace the pool cover but most local businesses we contacted wanted to replace it with a shade sail and the one quote we received to fabricate a new cover to our design seemed exceedingly high.

Owen & Diane Cheetham - Townsville

In 2003, Golden Valley Orchards were offered the opportunity to work with the NCEA (National Centre for Engineering in Agriculture) and NetPro Pty Ltd on a research project evaluating the effectiveness of (amongst others) NetPro's dam-covers.

Renato Andreatta - Granite Belt

"I think it has made all the difference to the quality of our product – it has saved us from bird attack and from hail damage." To date, Robert Channon Wines have won 23 trophies, 17 gold medals, 26 silver and 55 bronze medals since 2001."

Initially the idea of the net canopy over the landfill was discussed with Netpro as they are a local company and at the time Netpro was considering advancing into this area (protection of landfills). Netpro assisted Council with a very reasonable price which allowed the project to proceed.
