     Vehicle and Industrial Shade

Netpro Pty Ltd design and build protective canopy structures to prevent damage from climatic extremes and events such as Hail and Wind, Heat or Ultra-Violet light. These types of structures have both agricultural and commercial applications.

VEHICLE PROTECTION

Vehicle protection structures can take one of two design formats, depending on prevailing weather conditions, and to a lesser extent, on budget.

pitch system

THE NETPRO PATENTED PITCH SYSTEM - DESIGNED TO SHED HAIL:

  • The NetPro patented Pitch System uses a stable (non-stretching) net erected in a pitched roof pattern. The falling hail is directed down the valleys so as to exit the structure at allocated spacings. A pitch structure is best able to withstand heavy falls and is the "rolls-royce" of the net systems, and shedding the load reduces the risk ot major structural failure during large hail events.
  • The Pitch System requires fewer internal posts - allowing increased internal grid spacings.
  • For areas subject to snow fall, a number of modifications can be made to the pitch system to maintain structural integrity.
  • Low maintenance.

During the heavy hail-storm of 2006 in the Stanthorpe area, it was reported that pitch systems performed well - use link below to access the complete article.

"The western part of the Pozieres area north of Stanthorpe, Queensland was hit by a massive hail storm on 24 October that lasted for an hour with hail varying in size from peas and marbles to golf balls.

"Lessons learned: Firstly, pitched netting universally fared better than flat roofed structures. There are a number of instances where old blocks of pitched netting were unaffected, whereas adjacent blocks of newer flat netting were severely damaged ... "

CANOPY PERFORMANCE UNDER EXTREME CONDITIONS:   Published Article - more...

THE NETPRO PATENTED PITCH SYSTEM - DESIGN ELEMENTS:

  • The Cable Grid: the overall design is based around an independent grid of tensioned primary RIDGE cables supported by structural posts and tensioned to the external anchors. As the cable crosses an internal post it sits in a specially designed post cap; the cables are terminated at the top of each post using a 4-way connector, enabling the transfer of load if required. Secondary VALLEY wires are positioned and tensioned - these are the connection points for the base of the covers (hail exits).
  • Canopy / Seam Construction: the canopy covers are connected to the primary Ridge cable and then clipped to the Valley wires using specially designed clips which fit into the reinforced eyelets of the hail-guard covers.
  • Canopy Material: the net of choice is a stable (non-stretching) product which enables the hail to flow to the valley of the structure. A standard shade-cloth or quad net does not allow for enough internal tension, causing the hail to pond and create load. The product has reinforced centre and edges; and a manufacturer's Pro Rata UV warranty of 10 years.
  • Cover Replacement: the covers are independently installed and are joined in one direction to allow for ease of maintenance and to reduce transfer of wind load to neighbouring covers. In the case of storm damage, covers can be replaced or repaired independently with no disruption to the remainder of the site. Due to the nature of the pitch design, there is very little movement in the canopy covers - therefore the structure is relatively maintenance free.

KEY BENEFITS OF THE PITCH DESIGN:

  • Low maintenance
  • Fewer internal posts
  • Does not allow hail to apply localised load
  • Cost effective and industry proven

FLAT ROOFED STRUCTURES:

  • Flat Roofed Structures perform well in areas of light to moderate hail, and are also ideal for wind and uv-light protection.  The canopy material is supported by a tensioned cable grid.  Light falls of hail will pocket in the net, stretching the net down between the cables.  In the event of a more severe storm, damage can occur and possible maintenance may be required.
  • The canopy material and internal post spacings are determined by the canopy's overal design parameters. The canopy material is tested for distortion before construction commences, enabling NetPro to reduce the canopy sag to approximately 100mm.

BUILDING MATERIALS:

  • Structural Support Posts: All structural support components are independently engineer specified as per the Protective Canopy design requirements.
  • Support Cables: Composed of concentric layers of wires cross-laid to prevent rotation, coated with heavy duty galvanising to ensure optimum resistance to corrosion; the support cables are designed for minimum elongation under load.
  • Cable Stays and Terminations: NetPro prosplices smoothly connect and terminate cables, forming no projections to damage canopy materials. Cable stays are parallel double cables, and can also be used to support side covers.
  • Reinforcing Edge Wire: High Tensile Spring Steel Wire is woven along the reinforced cover edge, and clipped to the support cables.
  • Hot Dip Galvanising Treatment: All steel fabrication is completed prior to galvanising, which is done in accordance with Australian Standards.
  • Footing Systems: NetPro uses a combination of engineered screw piles and concrete compression pads for vehicle storage and some feedlot projects; all footing dimensions are dependent on the canopy design and site conditions.

Our materials are specifically designed for the Protective Canopy industry.

We do not use standard "off the shelf" products.

For example:

  • WE DO NOT USE- Standard wire rope, with no manufacturer warranty.
  • WE DO NOT USE- Standard commercial shade-cloth, with non-reinforced or eyeletted edges.
  • WE DO NOT USE- Standard wire rope grips.
  • WE DO NOT USE- Standard cloth-penetrating steel connection rings.
